Sixteen years in enterprise IT and data, now leading regional platforms, products and delivery teams across 30+ countries — and still close enough to the technology to make the hard calls myself.

About
I lead data and analytics capabilities at regional scale — owning the platform, the roadmap and the delivery teams that turn fragmented data into something the business can actually rely on.
Leadership here means setting direction and owning the outcome, not stepping away from the detail. Technology creates value when it is grounded in a real business need, supported by trustworthy data, and understood by the people using it. I take the same view of AI: strong tools matter, but domain knowledge, critical thinking and human accountability remain essential.
Exploring Head of Data and data leadership roles. Singapore-based, open to relocation.

Six problems worth the space — the situation, the constraint that made it awkward, the trade-off I accepted, and what I would do the same way again.
Four areas I own end to end — setting direction and standards, then staying involved through delivery, governance and day-two operations.
Building reliable flows between local sources and enterprise platforms — intake, planning and delivery across country, regional and global stakeholders.
Running regional data services across private-cloud and serverless environments, with reporting and applications business teams rely on daily.
Making delivery predictable and teams effective — unified demand intake, transparent prioritisation and ITIL-aligned service management, alongside growing the people doing the work from contract into permanent roles.
Cutting manual effort out of data operations, and evaluating where AI genuinely helps — without letting tool sprawl outrun the business case.

How I lead — where I start, how I decide what to invest in, and how I keep distributed teams delivering.
How do you approach the first weeks in a new role?
01
Listen first — from stakeholders above, below and across the business. Understanding what people actually need, and where the current landscape hurts, comes before any proposal. Only then do I develop strategy and tactics, and align on next steps with the people who will live with the result.
What is your view on AI in data operations?
02
Strong tools and prompts matter, but domain knowledge, critical thinking and human accountability remain essential — particularly in a regulated industry. I have evaluated AI tooling for data operations to inform leadership investment decisions, and the discipline that mattered most was avoiding tool sprawl.
How do you decide what technology to bring in?
03
I prefer stable, reliable approaches over vendor promises that do not hold up in production. The goal is a landscape that stays simple and supportable without trading off quality or delivery — backed by a clear view of budgeting and spend tracking, so cost is a design constraint rather than an afterthought.
How do you work with distributed teams?
04
Most of my career has run across markets, functions and time zones, coordinating country teams, regional headquarters and global platform groups. Delivery cadence holds when handovers are explicit, decisions are written down, and nobody has to be awake at the same hour to keep things moving. The teams I have led have mostly been matrixed or contracted rather than direct reports — which means influence, clarity and follow-through do the work that authority would otherwise do. Several people I brought in on contract moved into permanent roles, and were later promoted on my recommendation.
Where are you based, and are you open to relocation?
05
Currently based in Singapore, working across regional and global environments. Open to relocation, and happy in an office-first or hybrid setup — I do my best work with people in the room.
Open to conversations about data leadership roles, and happy to talk through integration, governance or platform problems either way. Email is fastest; LinkedIn works too.
